From Doubts to Doors: Peter’s Journey with Creaitz

Creaitz success story featuring Anyaebosi Peter - From Doubts to Doors: Peter's Journey with Creaitz (Issue #3)

Have you ever felt like you were standing at a crossroads, unsure of where to go next? Maybe you’ve had dreams bigger than your resources, or passions that didn’t quite fit into the path everyone expected you to take.

You’re not alone, many of us have been there.

That’s exactly where Peter found himself. He loved tech but didn’t know how to break in. He didn’t have the connections, the tools, or even the confidence to take that first step.

But then he found Creaitz, and what started as uncertainty quickly turned into a Creaitz success story.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and what you do now as a Product Manager?

Thank you so much for having me.

My name is Anyaebosi Peter. To keep my introduction simple, I’m just a normal guy. I’ve been interested in tech for a very long time now, and I’m particularly drawn to the blockchain space more than anything else.

Currently, I work as a Product Manager at Fairenation Limited, a tech company that builds technical solutions for both individuals and corporate bodies. If any company wants to outsource their IT department, that’s where we come in. What I do is to manage our clients’ end-to-end product development. I handle a lot of projects, but the main product I focus on is our in-house social platform, which is still under development.

So far, so good. It’s been both challenging and fulfilling. I also freelance as a Product Manager, handling external gigs mainly on weekends.

So yeah, this is me.

Very well, so tell us about your background as a Makeup Artist. How long were you in that field?

(LAUGHS) Funny enough, this is the first time I’m publicly talking about my background as a Makeup Artist. I started towards the end of 2016 and worked until around early 2020. That’s about three-plus years.

I began doing makeup as a way to keep myself busy as a student and also to survive the moment. I actually picked it up during one ASUU strike period, and from there it grew. It was fun, but for me it was always a survival thing, not a long-term career plan.

I never imagined that a Creaitz success story would later come out of my survival hustle.

Hmm, so what was your experience like working as a Makeup Artist before you discovered Creaitz?

My experience as a MUA wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t excellent either. It was something I did to sustain myself in school. My passion was always in tech.

I met the founder of Creaitz towards the last quarter of 2018 during another ASUU strike. We were staying in the same students lodge. From there, we started talking. She knew me as a makeup artist back then, but what I was really doing with my free time was reading about startups and following technical news, even without a laptop.

So before discovering Creaitz, my life as a MUA was manageable. It got tough sometimes😅, but generally it wasn’t terrible.

How did you first hear about Creaitz and what attracted you to the community?

I heard about Creaitz directly from the founder. As it may sound, I was among the very first to join the community, probably within the first 20 or 50 members.

What attracted me was the founder herself. She’s very intellectually balanced. But what made me stick with Creaitz was the peace I felt in the community. That peace of mind was the beginning of my Creaitz success story.

It was like a gathering of like minds, people open to growth, open to learning, sharing opportunities and resources.

In Creaitz, if you’re not open to growth and learning, there’s no need for you to be there.

Career transitioning is something we’re all familiar with, but moving from beauty to tech? That’s not something you hear about every day. How did Creaitz help you navigate this major career shift?

This is truly part of my Creaitz success story.

I think the biggest thing Creaitz gave me was clarity.

At some point, I tried different things, engineering, frontend, backend, but I wasn’t getting what I needed.

Creaitz helped me gain clarity.

The community made it clear by giving me resources, letting me see people grow, and seeing lives change from opportunities shared in the community.

The major turning point was when a particular link was shared in the group by Faith (the community manager at Aya), it was Ayaversity’s Web3 Product Management Bootcamp.

It was an intensive 12 weeks training, totally free!

The day I saw it, I couldn’t believe it.

After that, I knew this was what I wanted to do, Product Management or nothing.

That was the moment I gained utmost clarity.

How did the Creaitz community support you during this challenging transition period?

It’s impossible to talk about my tech journey without mentioning Creaitz.

Without Creaitz, there would be no story.

My first beginner program was supposed to be paid for by participants, but Creaitz stepped in. They also supported me with data and airtime during my learning phase.

That support, both financially and emotionally, kept me going, it’s moments like these that define my Creaitz success story.

I’ll keep saying this, you would not have heard of this success story without the Creaitz community.

That’s very touching, so what was the most valuable thing you learned from the Creaitz community during your transition?

Accountability and consistency.

Creaitz instilled in me the habit of showing up, managing my time, and committing to growth.

Through my mentor at Ayaversity, Mr. Newton, I got my internship immediately after the Ayaversity program.

We finished on January 26th, and got an offer the next day.

I officially started my internship on February 5th, 2024.

All this happened because Creaitz made the opportunity available.

How did Creaitz help you build confidence in a completely new field?

Being part of Creaitz naturally boosts your confidence.

Creaitz members are known for high levels of confidence.

It’s not about saying “I can’t do this” but rather, “I’ll definitely figure it out.”

That mindset has shaped the way I approach my career.

What role did networking within the Creaitz community play in your career change?

Networking in Creaitz is something I’m still tapping into, but I can already say this: the community is filled with people who are willing to guide you.

If you’re intentional and make your goals known, people will come through with resources and guidance.

What was it like transitioning from makeup clients to managing products and teams?

I usually tell people: being a Product Manager starts with managing yourself. If you can’t manage yourself, you can’t manage a team.

In a way, makeup and product management are similar, you don’t build a whole look at once; you build it step by step, bit by bit. The same applies to product development.

Looking back now, how did Creaitz make this dramatic career change possible?

Creaitz has a huge special place in my life. Looking back, everything changed for me in 2022. Since then, Creaitz has played a central role in my journey.

I’ve mentioned Creaitz like a million times already😅and even that isn’t enough compared to what the community stands for.

Without Creaitz, you wouldn’t be hearing this success story today.

What would you tell someone considering a major career change through Creaitz?

Be intentional. Let the community know what you want. When you put yourself out there, people will come through with resources and guidance.

Someone who took 13 months to grow can help you do it in 6 months because of the resources they’ll share with you and help you to navigate through the storm.

Lastly, what does your Creaitz transformation story mean to you personally?

Personally, I’m so invested in anything Creaitz.

I dedicate everything I am and everything I do to Creaitz and what the community represents.

To me, Creaitz means growth, learning, confidence, and endless opportunities.

Truly, there would be no story without Creaitz!

Are you Ready to Begin Your Own Journey?

At Creaitz, growth isn’t just a promise, it’s a lived experience.
